Love this Gospel lesson. I have a rose bush that just goes crazy after I prune it in early Spring. Jesus said He s the true vine. That means there must also be an untrue vine. I don't think we want to be branches on the untrue vine.
I hadn't thought of that opposite possibility. Not just pruned (which is a temporary unpleasantness to facilitate growth) but to graft ourselves to that untrue vine… being filled with its toxins until we wither. Sad and scary.
